CD02 A retrospective comparison of Chemotechnique Cosmetic series–positive contact allergens with the British Society for Cutaneous Allergy facial series

Abstract Patch testing is an important tool in the assessment of facial dermatitis. The cosmetic or series haptens are highly relevant British Society for Cutaneous Allergy has recently updated to include reduced number 24 haptens. Contact allergen positivity was seen sorbitan oleate (Span 80; rate 4.7%), thimerosal (Merthiolate; chloroacetamide (positive hexahyrdo-1,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl) triazine (Groton BK; abitol (hydroabietyl alcohol; 9.5%), benzophenon-3 (Eusolex® 4360, EscalolTM 567, oxybenzone; sesquioleate 14.2%), benzyl salicylate tert-butyl hydroquinone tea tree oil oxidized 3-(dimethylamino)-1-propylamine Amerchol quaternium methyldibromo glutaronitrile (MDBGN; methylisothiazolinone (MI; sodium metabisulfite 28.5%) gallate mix 28.5%). Nine (43%) have more than allergy. Five (Amerchol, quaternium, MDBGN, MI metabisulfite) captured within standard but not Benzophenone 3 extra further [sorbitan 80), (Merthiolate), chloroacetamide, BK) salicylate] However, these five included would otherwise been identified.
